How does hunting fit in the context of a Biblical worldview? Does the "creation mandate" in Genesis 1:28-30 apply to hunting? Are there any other passages of scripture that apply to hunting? (15 points)
God created animals for human consumption. It even says in Genesis 1:30 "And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so." God says clearly in these verses that he has created anything that is edible for our consumption. We should hunt for food, because that is what God created these animals for. FK
The creation mandate does apply to hunting. Hunting helps control the population of certain animal species. If no one hunted animals, then the creature at the top of the food chain would become the only species on earth. In Acts 10:13, God tells Peter to kill and eat. Although Peter does not have to hunt the animals here, God does tell him to eat them. This passage and many more tell how God created animals for human consumption. In Genesis 9:3, God tells us that every moving thing that lives shall be food for us. Because they are "moving" things, they must be hunted to be consumed.
Yes the creation mandate does apply to hunting. It states that everything that creepeth the earth is ours to eat. For us to eat it we must hunt it first. Genesis 27:5 says, "And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it. Even people in biblical time went hunting.
the bible says we are to be stewerds of the land and all that is in it so i think that if animals are overpopulating the earth it is good to control the population and by doing so take care of the land that the animal lives on hunting is also a great way to provide food as it says in Genesis 27: 5-6
The creation mandate dose apply to hunting. In Genesis 10:9 - He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. Also in Acts 10:13 - And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. God created man superior over animals and that's the way its supposed to be. BL
Hunting fits into a biblical worldview because we are to rule over the animals and prosper. In order to prosper we need to be alive and in order to be alive we need nutrients from meat. Yes the creation mandate applies to hunting as long as we are wisely doing what God commanded. In the story of Abraham and Isaac God allowed Abraham to kill the sheep for an offering as a matter of fact through out the old testament God commands them to offer living sacrifices. JH
